In the remote mountain villages of Gora, in the harsh Shar Mountains, lives a Slavic speaking Muslim minority – the Gorani people. Given the fact the women are forbidden to be filmed, “Gora” explores this rich culture through the everyday rituals of Gorani males in their streets, mosques, pubs; with their herds of cows, sheep and shepherd dogs. They work, talk, dance, play music, preach, pray and sing as the mountains around and above them constantly remind how ephemeral their existence is.
